The music industry, which has long lagged behind its listeners and musicians with respect to digital music, has finally decided to launch its own version of YouTube/Hulu, called VEVO.
Backed by Universal Music Group and Sony, VEVO offers on-demand streaming of music content with advertisements. So if you want to watch some Chris Daughtry, for example, they have that.
U2’s Bono addressed the VIP attendees of a New York VEVO launch party by saying: “Friends, we are gathered here today to mourn the passing of the old model that was the music business,” according to Billboard.
